Fragrance still life photography inspired by Byredo

A personal photography project exploring fragrance, form and atmosphere through a series of still life images featuring Byredo perfume bottles. Created as free work, this shoot was an exercise in translating scent into visual mood: minimal, intimate and quietly refined.

Turning scent into a visual feeling

Some products carry a world around them. Fragrance is one of them. Before you even spray it, there is already a feeling: the weight of the bottle, the name on the label, the light hitting the glass, the memory you imagine it might become. For this personal project, I photographed a selection of Byredo perfume bottles as a way to explore fragrance still life photography. Not as a commercial assignment, but as free work: a small visual study in scent, texture, light and atmosphere. The goal was not simply to photograph the bottles as objects. I wanted to create images that felt like the mood around the fragrance. Quiet, minimal and tactile. A little intimate. A little elusive.

Minimal product photography with atmosphere

Byredo’s visual world has always felt strong because of its restraint: clean bottles, simple labels and scents that leave room for interpretation. That minimalism gave me space to focus on the small details: reflection, shadow, surface, composition and negative space. For this series, I wanted the images to feel calm but not cold. Polished, but not overly perfect. The kind of product photography that feels editorial rather than purely functional.

The bottle is the subject, but the atmosphere is what makes the image linger. Free work is where I get to experiment with the kind of visual language I want to create more of. With this fragrance photography project, I wanted to practice building a story around a product without needing a big set, a full team or a complicated concept. Just light, styling, composition and a clear feeling.

It became a way to explore how beauty and lifestyle products can be photographed with more softness and intention. Not just to show what something looks like, but to suggest what it might feel like.

For beauty, fragrance and lifestyle brands

This personal project reflects the kind of product photography I love to create: soft, minimal and atmospheric, with a strong sense of visual storytelling. For beauty, fragrance and lifestyle brands, product imagery does not have to feel flat or overly commercial. It can feel personal. Tactile. Quietly luxurious. Like a small world built around the product. Whether it is a fragrance launch, beauty product, skincare brand or lifestyle object, I create images that help people feel something before they even read the description.
